Applications that carry their data and computational environment with them.
k3pler is a local-first application architecture designed for data-intensive and highly regulated environments. Data, business logic, analytics, GIS and selected AI capabilities can execute directly on the user's device. Applications remain operational without permanent connectivity and synchronize securely when a network is available.
The objective is simple: reduce the dependency between software and centralized infrastructure while retaining security, control and interoperability.
k3pler treats SQLite as the single source of truth, from the browser to the backend. One format travels the whole way — no translation layer that leaks complexity or quietly moves data across a boundary you did not choose.
Queries, analytics, cartography and selected AI workloads run on the device that already holds the information. The network is used for synchronization, not for every keystroke. When connectivity is degraded or absent, the application keeps working.
When a network is available, replicas synchronize through a snapshot-and-delta model, with encryption and access control preserved across every replica. We are researching peer-to-peer transport so that synchronization does not require a permanent central intermediary.
k3pler is in production. Its primary deployment supports public-space operations for a major European city, used daily by hundreds of people managing thousands of urban interventions.
We work with administrations, research institutions and technology partners.
